    Tesla Owners Discover Gwynn's Island

Who: Multiple Tesla Owners Clubs on the East Coast are invited to participate

What: Weekend road trip to Virginia to explore Gwynn's Island by day; enjoy a delicious, gourmet plant-based seafood dinner by night with other Tesla owners

When: Friday July 30th to Sunday August 1st, 2021. See itinerary below for details and alternate shorter options for each day. Watch this video preview.

Why: We drive an EV because we care about the environment. But how we eat has a major impact on the environment too. Some of us have eliminated factory farmed animals from our diet and turned to seafood, however in the documentary film "Seaspiracy" we learn that even seafood consumption may be adding to the problem and creating new ones. Fortunately there are good plant-based alternatives. On this road trip we will travel to Gwynn's Island VA for a unique gourmet dinner at The White Dog Bistro where we'll get to taste plant-based seafood and do a taste test comparison. We will also hear from the founder of Mind Blown Plant-Based Seafood which is based on Gwynn's Island.

    Important Event Information:

    1. Reserve your accommodations on your own ASAP (see below for options) before registering for this event. There are few hotels so act quickly as rooms are limited. Although you can always sleep in your Tesla in Camp Mode!
    2. Register for the event using link above. Cost of registration covers multi-course dinner on Saturday night and non-alcoholic beverages. Everything else is paid on your own. NOTE: early registration deadline July 10th!
    3. When you register you will be asked questions about dietary preferences, allergies, and travel plans for each guest. For those who do not eat seafood (even the plant-based variety) other options off the menu will be availabe.
    4. Please watch the movie Seaspiracy before the event
    5. Maps and more details will be provided to registrants in advance
    6. If you would like to attend, but do not want to drive alone, we have some vehicles going who have offered to take passengers, contact us if interested

Tour of Bucks County Covered Bridges

When:  meet at 12:30 pm, depart at 1:00 pm

(rain date 8/22 -- check your email for updates)

Where:  We will meet in the large parking lot across from Wells Fargo Bank. It starts and ends at Washington Crossing PA.  This is on the Delaware river (eastern edge of PA, western edge of NJ).

There are 12 covered bridges on this tour and it takes approximately 3.5-4 hours to complete the total loop. The total distance is 95-100 miles, so be sure you have a decent charge on your car. Most covered bridges do not have stopping/parking areas, but a couple do have an opportunity for photo ops. Some require parking and a little walking as they are not all "car" bridges.

We will be following the official route as posted on the website here

Please familiarize yourself with this map /set of directions. The tour goes around Bucks county in a big counterclockwise circle and is mainly small curvy roads with great scenery. We highly recommend printing the directions from the website above due to intermittent cell signal in the area. We will have a few printed copies if you forget yours and need one.

    Itinerary (times are approximate):

1:00pm - Start Eastern loop route

3:00 - 3:30 pm - Midway meetup point at Moods Covered Bridge. After taking a few pictures, meet us at the Giant Grocery Store parking lot (a few minutes away from Moods Covered Bridge) to re-group before starting the Western loop route. (1153 N 5th St, Perkasie, PA 18944)

3:30 pm - Start Western loop route

5:30 - 6:00 pm - End at Washington Crossing Historic Park (1112 River Rd, Washington Crossing, PA 18977)

6:00 - 6:30 pm - (Optional) Hungry after all that driving? Join us for dinner after our cruise at Dominick's Original Pizzeria (1250 General Washington Memorial Blvd, Washington Crossing, PA 18977) ( Just a few minutes away from Washington Crossing Historic Park).
