Bring your car to show first responders at our  "Tesla Crash Course" workshop

As the number of Tesla vehicles on the roads grows, so does the chance that a first responder will need to interact with a Tesla in some capacity. Recognizing the need for first responders to safely operate and handle Tesla vehicles in emergency situations, DVTOC created "Tesla Crash Course" to provide first responders the opportunity to be exposed to Tesla vehicles first hand.

Service to our community is an important part of the Tesla Owner's Club mission. That is why we are inviting enthusiastic and experienced Tesla owners to participate in our "Tesla Crash Course" and maybe also learn a thing or two about what to do in emergency situations.

The first part of the workshop is a PowerPoint presentation given by club leaders in a classroom setting followed by Q&A. Then we all go outside to interact with the vehicles and first responders (police, fire, EMS). Ideally we try to have at least 2 of each model. That is why we have limited spots for each Tesla model.

This Crash Course will take place in Point Pleasant Beach NJ on Saturday October 15th. The workshop begins at 9:00 am, but we ask participants to arrive 15-30 minutes early so we can stage the cars. Registrants will be provided detailed instructions in advance. An alternate nearby location for the hands-on portion of the workshop will be provided in case of rain. A club sponsored lunch for volunteers will follow the event at a nearby restaurant.

New participants will receive an 11x17 laminated emergency response guide for their model to keep.

Check out pictures from past Crash Course workshops in Millburn NJWestfield NJ,  Atco NJ and Monmouth Junction NJ and Hamilton NJ .

WMMR 93.3 Preston and Steve's Camp out for hunger needs our help

Now more than ever the local food banks need help due to the pandemic. We have been invited to join the annual Phil-a-Trunk Food Drive that benefits the Philabundance Food Bank. This event is in conjunction with the Preston and Steve's Camp out for Hunger. Phil-a-Trunk is a literal food drive created by Riesentoter Region of the Porsche Club that welcomes all car clubs in the Delaware Valley.

    Every donation counts!

    • A one-pound donations helps provide one meal for someone in need.
    • Just $1 can help provide up to two meals.
    • With $20, Philabundance can buy a case of peanut butter, a delicious and crucial source of protein for kids.
    • $50 helps give a four-person household three meals a day for one week.

Last year was our third time attending this event and we donated 4,699 lbs of non-perishable food which was 3,467 lbs. more than we donated in 2020. Let's beat our 2021 year total; our new goal for 2022 is 7000 lbs.!

Every year we attend, we get a shout out on the Preston and Steve morning radio show by the host of the event, "we didn't even hear the DVTO club drive in!"

Here are a few of our "competitor's" donation totals from 2021...

    1. Porsche 90,466
    2. Mini Cooper 8,110
    3. Jeep 3,592
    4. Mustangs 3,578
    5. Mopar 1,929
    6. Corvette 1,597
    7. Blacktop Villains 1,562
    8. Audi 701

A few details about the event:

9:30 am - Meet at the Ikea parking lot near Chick-fil-a and take a few group pictures.

10:00 am - Drive as a group to the Wells Fargo Center, lot F (tentative, off 11th Street), where we will drop off our food donations with the volunteers of Philabundance.

11:15 am - Our scheduled drop off time with Phil-a-Trunk (this time may be slightly earlier or later depending on how large or small the car clubs are ahead of us)

    *Tentative* Phil-a-Trunk drop off schedule:
