DIY Maintenance for Models 3/Y - Wilmington

Registration

  • Vehicle placed in service center. Participates in air filter and/or 12v battery swap procedure. Air filter and 12v battery can be reused (taken out and re-placed) if not ready to be changed.
  • Participate in workshop by observing work done on other vehicles rather than your own.

Join us for a two part Do-It-Yourself (DIY) workshop at Wilmington Service Center to learn how to do maintainence your Tesla Model 3 or Y on your own. This service workshop is facilitated by DVTOC volunteers in conjunction with Tesla service techs. 

DIY maintenance Part 1: 

  • How to replace your cabin air filter
  • How to replace your wiper blades
  • Burnishing your brake pads
  • Checking and adjusting your tire pressure
  • Refilling your washer fluid
DIY maintenance Part 2 (optional, starting after Part 1): 
  • Replacing your 12v battery (Models 3/Y with 12v lead acid battery)

Note: When you register for the workshop you have the option to select whether you are participating in the air filter change (part 1), 12v battery (part 2), both, or observing only (part 1 and/or 2). If you are only participating in part 2, you may arrive around 2:30 pm, your car will be moved into the service center if space is available. To ensure your car is placed in the service center, arrive before the start of Part 1.

Parts: Please purchase your air filters and wiper blade parts (if desired) from the online Tesla shop and bring them with you to the workshop. Links provided in registration email. A 12v battery may be purchased from the service center if you indicate interest and provide your VIN# in the registration form.

Benefits of attending the DIY workshop:

  • Learning correct procedures for DIY maintenance 
  • Air filters and wiper blades changed by you in the workshop with assistance by Tesla techs and trained club volunteers
  • PDF of handout with step by step instructions for air filter change on completion of workshop and a survey about the workshop
  • Step by step instructions for 12v battery swap in 3 and Y with option to change your battery during the workshop, if needed

This workshop is open to paid tier club members. Free tier members must upgrade to Standard or Ludicrous tier to register. 

Registration deadline: April 20th. If all spots are full, register for the waiting list. We'll notify you by email if a spot opens up. Each participant may bring 1 adult guest. No young children allowed.
